The national capital reported 96 COVID-19 cases with 9 deaths in the last 24 hours, government data shows. Some 212 people also recovered in this duration.

This is the first time that Delhi, which has seen and surmounted three waves of coronavirus infections, logged less than 100 since April last year when India was still in first phase of the nationwide lockdown to control the pandemic.

On April 30, Delhi had recorded 76 new cases.

Though the low case count came amid low testing of just about 30,000 tests on Republic Day, city's overall positivity rate has also been on a decline in the recent weeks.

Delhi's positivity rate, which had shot to about 15 per cent at the peak of its third wave of infections throwing up about 8,500 cases in a day, now stands at 0.32 per cent.
