Digvijaya Singh hits out at BJP over honey trap racket bust in MP

India Today

A political blame game has started over the recently busted honey trap gang scandal in Madhya Pradesh. Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh attacked the BJP leaders while speaking to media persons in Indore on Sunday.

Digvijaya Singh alleged that when Jitu Jirati was the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Shweta Vijay Jain - an accused in the honey trap case - was the party general secretary. He asked journalists to find out all the details about the matter.

Digvijaya Singh also hinted that a minister in Maharashtra has joined the case.

He also pointed to Maharashtra minister Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar's involvement in the case. Singh alleged Nilangekar - currently a minister in the Fadnavis government - was the state president of the Maharashtra Yuva Morcha "at that time".

"When Shweta's video went viral, with whom was she in Maharashtra?" Singh asked. He also asked to find out what was the relation between Shweta and Nilengkar. Singh also said that media should find out why an artist leader of the BJP had gone to launch Shweta's husband Vijay's shop in Sagar.

Meanwhile, Jirati rubbished allegations made by Singh. He said, "Shweta Jain was not the general secretary of the party when I was the state president of the BJYM.
