JUI-F dares Imran to file treason case

The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has dared Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to file a treason case against the party's chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman as opposition lawmakers denounced the premier's call for trying the politico-religious leader. On Friday, Khan called for treason proceedings against Rehman for remarks regarding the ouster of the incumbent government.

In response, JUI-F lawmaker Maulana Asad Mehmood dared the Prime Minister to initiate a treason case against Rehman, The Express Tribune reported on Saturday. "I'm challenging Imran Khan to go ahead and try him under Article 6. A treason case should have been filed against the Prime Minister for speaking against the state institutions during his US and Iran tours," Mehmood said.
