5g in India: Centre Gives Nod For Trials To MTNL, Jio, Vodafone, Airtel, Others; No Chinese Tech Player Allowed
New Delhi: Telecom service providers (TSPs), including Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio Infocomm, Vodafone Idea, and MTNL, have received green signal from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to conduct 5G trials. However, the Government of India has not allowed Chinese tech majors such as Huawei and ZTE to take part in the trials. Meanwhile, the TSPs have tied up with original equipment manufacturers and technology providers — Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung and C-DOT. Apart from this, Reliance Jio Infocomm will also be conducting trials using its own indigenous technology, according to an IANS report.
