BJP's Shobha Karandlaje blasts Tablighi Jamaat for COVID-19 spread across India, calls them 'corona jihadis'
Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje has accused Tablighi Jamaat of spreading COVID-19 in India and called them 'corona jihadis'.
Karandlaje's statement comes after a large number of Tablighi Jamaat returnees tested COVID-19 positive. The BJP MP gave this statement while speaking to the media in Chikmagalur.
"Several Tablighi Jamaat members who attended a congregation at the Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi in March fled to other parts of the country, carrying and spreading coronavirus. Many have tested positive," Karandlaje said.
Over 250 Tablighi Jamaat attendees from Karnataka have tested positive and are currently quarantined.
