Prithvi Shaw has recovered in time from an injury scare to play the second and final Test against New Zealand at Auckland and the youngster is making the most of his opportunity, scoring his first half century in overseas conditions.

He reached the landmark with a six off Neil Wagner.

His opening partner Mayank Agarwal, however, lasted just 11 balls earlier in the day with Trent Boult trapping him lbw in the 6th over.

Shaw now has Pujara for company and the two have got India past the 80-run mark.

New Zealand won the toss against India and elected to bowl on a bright green pitch at Hagley Oval.
