Complaint against VC on varsity attack

The Telegraph

A group of Visva-Bharati students on Friday lodged a police complaint accusing vice-chancellor Bidyut Chakrabarty of plotting an attack on students at the varsity on January 15 night.

Along with the complaint, a video clip that contains a purported conversation between the VC and a student was also submitted to the police.

"In the video, it is clear that the VC is asking to bring goons from outside to give us 'medicine'. The video was taken on January 7 and the VC was asking one of the student leaders, Achintya Bagdi, to come around 3.30pm, the time of Rajya Sabha member Swapan Dasgupta's lecture on the CAA on our campus," said Falguni Pan, one of the complainants.

The Santiniketan campus of the varsity had been on the boil since Chakrabarty invited Dasgupta for a lecture on the CAA on January 8. Students had laid siege to the venue of the lecture, confining Dasgupta, Chakraborty and others to the conference room for hours.
