De-escalation in eastern Ladakh alone would lead to restoration of peace along LAC: MEA

New Delhi: De-escalation of forces in eastern Ladakh alone would lead to the restoration of peace and tranquillity and provide conditions for progress in the bilateral relationship between India and China, said MEA spokesperson Anurag Srivastava.

In his weekly press briefing, he termed the disengagement in the Pangong lake area as a significant step forward adding that it provided a good basis for the resolution of other remaining issues along the LAC in the Western sector.

India further said it expected the Chinese side to work with New Delhi both through the WMCC and the senior commander's meetings to ensure that the disengagement in the remaining area is completed at the earliest.
