Coronavirus in India: Migrants face tough time as govt shuts bus terminals
Joblessness, starvation, and urge to find solace amidst their families have forced a gazillion migrants to take an extreme step. After the announcement by the Uttar Pradesh government on the provisions for daily wage or migrant workers to facilitate them to reach their hometowns, a huge number of people flocked at Anand Vihar ISBT on Saturday.
The magnitude intensified at an unprecedented rate by night where scores of people poured in with their families, baggage and all their belongings, creating a ruckus at the interstate bus terminal.
However, after a number of concerns were raised to keep up with the social distancing, both Anand Vihar Bus Terminal and Kaushambi Bus Terminal have been vacated, and the migrants were asked to stay put where they are - with the Delhi government converting government schools into shelters to provide accommodation and food.
