Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath kicked off a storm on Wednesday for derogatory remarks on deaths in his state during the anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) protests in December last year.

"Agar koi marne ke liye aa hi raha hai to woh zinda kahan se ho jaayega (How can someone be alive if he is coming with the intention of getting killed)" he said, referring to the deaths that occurred in Uttar Pradesh during the violent anti-CAA protests in December 2019.

No one fell to police bullets, he claimed, adding the rioters fired bullets during the protests which killed multiple people.
