Assam CM Sonowal visits flood-hit Hojai, meets relief camp inmates

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday took stock of various flood affected areas in Hojai district.

The chief minister visited flood affected areas like Hatimura, Dakshin Kenduguri, Nabhanga and Jugijaan village in the district.

Due to incessant rains in the last week, the flood waters of Kopili and Jamuna rivers submerged many villages of the district.

The first wave of flash floods has affected 93 villages.

The floods affected 94,445 people and 7650.50 hectares of agricultural land in Hojai district.

Following the floods, the district authorities set up 54 relief camps and more than 10,000 people have taken shelter in these relief camps.
