Mysuru: The city of Mysuru will on Wednesday vote to elect its 23rd Mayor and Deputy Mayor. The contest is a one-on-one fight between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress, while the Janata Dal (Secular) is taking a 'wait and watch' approach.
The previous Mayoral term, of JD(S)'s Tasneem, ended on January 19. Earlier, the 2018 agreement forced the the JD(S) to support the Congress, but the parties are now engaged in a cold war and it's unclear whether the favours will be returned this time.
As per their previous agreement, the Mayor's post was reserved for the Congress for the first and third terms - Congress corporator Pushpalatha Jagannath was the Mayor during the first term.
"We have already spoken with JD(S) leaders in this regard.
