Quinton de Kock bags record for scoring fastest half-century in T20I for South Africa

South Africa wicketkeeper batsman Quinton de Kock has achieved the record for scoring the quickest fifty in T20I. On Friday, the 27-year-old played a superlative knock of 22 ball 65 runs which included 2 fours and 8 maximums against England in the second T20I at Kingsmead.

The left handed batsman reached the 50 run mark in just 17 deliveries. However, his exploits went to no effect as the Proteas lost the match by two runs, while chasing down 205 against the world champions.

Previously, AB de Villiers and de Kock held the record for the Proteas as they both had knocked half centuries in just 21 deliveries in different games in 2016.

All-inclusive, de Kock finds himself joint sixth in the list which is led by former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who had knocked a 12 ball 50 against England in the 2007 World T20. Australian Miza Hasan sits second in the list after he knocked a 13 ball 50 against Luxembourg in 2019. Colin Munro comes third and is followed by Faisal Khan and Shai Hope.
