Political showdown over the 'dollar smuggling' case affidavit ahead of assembly elections

TimesNowNews

Ernakulam: The Customs department affidavit naming Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and three cabinet ministers in the infamous dollar smuggling case has led to a political fight between the BJP and the CPI (M) as the CPM has hit out at the central government alleging that the centre is misusing the investigation agencies for electoral benefits.

"The affidavit filed by the Customs in the high court shows that the central government has degraded themselves so that they can go to any extent to defeat the Pinarayi Vijayan led government in the upcoming assembly polls," the state secretariat reacted hours after the customs department affidavit was filed in the high court.
